Wayne Hooper Donation
The Hooper children coordinated a Memorial Service for their father, Wayne Hooper, long-time King’s Heralds Quartet member, musician/composer/arranger/conductor. The service took place at the Vallejo Drive Church in Glendale, California, on May 5 at 3:30 p.m. Speakers included Lonnie Melashenko and featured music by the 1974 King Heralds Quartet, Del Delker and Bunny Phillips Thornburgh, as well as some selections from Wayne’s solo album recorded in 1955.
Wayne’s daughter, Jan Hooper Lind, who attends the Coeur d’Alene Adventist church, is suggesting that those who wish to make a charitable donation in his honor might want to consider the Wayne Hooper Music Scholarship fund through the UPPER COLUMBIA ACADEMY FOUNDATION. Many people are aware that Wayne played trombone and arranged many compositions for instruments, including brass groups. Scholarship funds will be used to assist talented students who play brass instruments to enhance the outstanding music program at UCA.
Gifts donated will be earmarked as requested above, and when the amount reaches $5,000 a permanent Wayne Hooper Music Scholarship account will be established within the Foundation portfolio.
